It could be that the new AV picked up on the old AV's quarantine list and thought they were viri.
The only AV I would recommend to anyone on PC is NOD32. It's fantastic. Does its thing without any fuss. It's very OS friendly too in the sense that it isn't processor intensive and its scans are as transparent to the end user as possible,
