Hi

What is the best format to have a blog URL in?, taking into consideration things like what way you write the BLOG URL would have on SEO, or any other reasons positive or negative?

for example what is best format to use.

jimmysexytoiletcleaningservicedublin.blogspot.com
or

jimmys-sexy-toilet-cleaning-service-dublin.blogspot.com

also in the URL I use "Dublin" (say if 80% of jimmys customers were in Dublin, & 20% random in other counties in Ireland).

Would "Dublin" be best choice or would 'ireland" be better choice?

Or should craft jimmy grab a few different versions of the URL say the 2 above for Dublin, and 2 as per both formats above with "Ireland", nominate one, URL as the actual blog, and the 3 other similar URLS, on the home page, make a Link say we moved address, and click here for jimmys new blog.. (or something lime that?), or is that a newbie stupid question, I have just asked!

I want to set up on Blogger , a blog re my work/biz. Simple to use, which means I will post blogs, & zero cost which is important. (if it works out, in time I can always upgrade to something more pro looking). I find if anything is too techie for me, I just mentally switch off. must be v simple & user friendly for me.

(blogger cause I am terrible at techie things, & just learning, worldpress I had & I hate it so much, I did not use the blog, blogger, I find very simple to use... sitting down back of slow class too! )

I was thinking after looking at this blog solution, after shooting down worldpress. Perhaps I have such a bad taste on worldpress.org blog I had on a defunct eBook site, was guy who set it up for me, I think due to a lack of integrity, or big a smart a#s, set it up in such a way, that to get anything basic changed, I had to hire him in to do it, & also did not train me at all on the basics, so it was a mess from the beginning. However, looking at a solution such as the blacknight blog, perhaps I am correct to assume, if blog is set up by a professional company, who do a good job, then it might be an idea to pay and get the blog set up properly? (is it true the worldpress.com is easier to use?) As opposed to me hacking about on blogger.com with a half done, home made blog?
I probably have answered my own question here, I better go email them and ask!

Yes, I saw that (have been messing about with my selfdefense blog, on blogger, to learn the basics, and its ok, not bad for a complete beginner, sending an email with an attachment is a massive bill gates achievement for me lol!).
See, re the biz, the company name, & "brochure" standard "says same as everyone else web site" for , (its 6 years old, will change it in 8 or 9 months time), looks fine, however then we company with staff, now its me solo with PA, & all or when need extra help, outsourced to global low costs people on a per hour, as needed basis. The URL & Website, does not reflect really what I am about no more, what USP on offer, that is a solo person (who likes to think he has integrity, or tires 110% to!).

So essentially this blog idea, I want to leave totally separate from the main web site .ie I have re what I do for my "day job". and the blog let that be the new beginnings, new model of low cost BS free biz, this is a real person shine through. I might even change the name from what I use now, to something else next year.

Thats why I am "stiff" on names for blog URLs, & why I do not for example want to link the blog to the main website which if I go for a complete make over, "re brand" (to use a word I hate, very pretentious for solo operators is re-branding), new name, new identity, let low cost, sub narrow niche, non pushy & hopefully considered high integrity person shine through.

Apologies, re deep personal rant. I find re asking technical related questions etc, that it is much better, clearer etc. to give person full picture of what the goal/idea/aim of blog is.

Looking forward to any input.

What constructive feedback can you give?

As per my OP, and considering the question I asked, why do you "don't like both"?

How would you change them, or what constructive changes can you suggest (as per OP) that would make you "like both"? (in the fictional examples I gave)

Both url too long.

i will use cleaning-service-dublin.blogspot.com
or cleaningservice.blogspot.com or your own domain.

i don't like too many keyword on url.
also it look like spam.

i link keywords .blogspot.com

Open question to anyone knowledgeable: is there any good reason for keeping a "blogspot.com" name over one's own domain name?
