Thumbs up Blogroll Partners

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for blogroll partners. As my blog Gavin Doolan is only new, I need link love! .

I'm looking for people to add me to their blogroll. If you find the content on my blog useful great! I'm happy to link to your blog in exchange, provided you use ethical methods in your search marketing work and have good content.

Please feel free to get in contact me with, if you are interested.

I'm interested in sites that deal with:

SEO
- Search Marketing
- PPC
- Analytics
- Web Design / Development

At this stage primarily other Irish blogs.

Cheers,
Gavin.

Commenting / participating on other blogs is the best way to get yourself added

Yes good point, I am trying to be more active in the community. I just figured others in the same industry may be willing to form a "web-ring" in a non-competitive stance.

I've done all the typical things, like link back from my own websites to my blog which already have page rank. I've also submitted to Dmoz but that is a bit like winning the lotto .

Persistence is what I need and quality content!

Cheers,
Gavin.

Putting it bluntly. If you ask most prominent bloggers to be added to their blogroll they'll tell you to get lost.

Fair enough really. I get heaps of link requests on a couple of my sites from people who clearly have sent an automated email to every tom, dick & harry. I just ignore them and sometimes I even bother to explain why I don't participate in recipricol linking. Although I think it falls on deaf ears at the best of times.

I think the best way to get noticed is write quality articles and links will come in automatically. Of course you always need that initial push, which is the hardest part.

Thanks for your response all the same.

99.99% of link requests are automated. Checking the email headers can be very revealing

The fact that you need to login to post comments to your posts is a bit off putting too. Your posts are written very well but you have an unnecessary stumbling block in place which is probably hindering the development of blogroll partners.

Unless you're Seth Godin forcing people to login to post comments is just plain stupid.

Moderating comments makes perfect sense - don't get me wrong!

Yeah I was thinking about this last night after viewing another blog which had it right in front of you. As you mention.

I'm still getting used to all the features of Wordpress. Do you know by any chance what's involved in changing this?

I'll take a look at my template tonight. See if I can figure it out.

Default For some reason...

For some reason I thought this would be complicated. (maybe I'm too used to Joomla! :P).

Simple solution.

Login to admin
Options -> Users must be registered and logged in to comment

Untick checkbox.

Save...

Just incase anyone else wants to know.

Wonder if I'll get more spam now? :P
