| Hi Everyone, I am now using a MAC for the first time and need a Good Dream W eaver replacement that will allow me to easily edit CSS and XHTML in a compliant manner. Does anyone know of a good cross-platform or Mac Based Editor? I'd like something free or open source. Cheers Gavin. |

| I use Textmate but it ain't free or OS. Smultron by Peter Borg or nvu.org - nvu might be of interest. |

| I believe Coda is good but haven't tried it cause it's only for MAC: Panic - Coda - One-Window Web Development for Mac OS X

| I use Coda when I'm on the Mac. It's a brilliant editor.. but not free. Costs around $90 for a license I think, and there's a 30-day free trial. Tbh, free/open-source apps on the mac seem to be few and far between. |

| He's looking for open source or free I believe. Your licence for DW is specific to windows or mac, not both! |

| As Cormac said ... NVU (though its .com not .org) Its cross platform (always wondered why it isn't happy platform ... maybe its the developers being cross having to port it) Worth an install as its gotten a lot of praise. Install it on windows or mac and see if its what you're after. I played with it before but went back to hand coding. Eclipse (can run on mac / linux / windows) but its more of a development tool for the most part. Still though with a plugins and indentation in your code which is automagic ... it works quite well. Add to the mix a few firefox plugins color picker and firebug ... and you've got the perfect little system in my eyes.

| I tried NVU before and while it was ok, I found TextMate to be the best by far. The cost is very reasonable too, €39! TextMate |

| For now I'm using a program called Jedit, but I might give CSSEdit a shot. |
