Hello all,

I wrote a PHP program and I want to add a line of text to the bottom of a page as a copyright. I don't want my customers to be able to remove this line. Would it be possible to make it so if they remove it, the program no longer works? or make it complicated to remove?

Any help greatly appreciated.

PHP files are editable in any basic text file editor so I'm not too sure if you can achieve what you want.

You could try and obfuscate the copyright by putting it in a variable using this:

PHP Obfuscator and Encoder - Free Download

but I'm sure some people can reverse engineer it

Can you distribute it with a license that prohibits removing the copyright notice?

You're obviously still relying on people to abide by the terms of the license, and how you're distributing it will probably affect whether you can check if your customers are keeping to the terms.

You can use a licensing system to handle it for you.
There's plenty of them out there. Some obfuscate, others don't
