Default Page centered in Firefox; left aligned in IE

    Hi,

One page in one of my websites won't display properly in IE, although every other page in the site is fine.

All pages are meant to be centered on the screen, as specified in the stylesheet, but one of the pages is left aligned in IE. I can't post the url, as I've less than 10 posts, but if you go to the Images page on www(.)ArdmoreHolidayHomes(.)Com, and click on one of the images you'll see what I mean.

Anyone any idea why it's happening? Or how to correct it?

    Many thanks,
    J.

    Snip, Snip......

    Many thanks,
    J.

On an individual image's page, your second <Meta> tag is spanning 3 lines. Remove the carriage returns and keep it all on 1 line.

If that fails, maybe try this:

In your #MainCointainer CSS class, add "position:relative;" and for testing in this same class change "float:left;" to "f/loat:left;" just to kill it for testing purposes. Revert back if this fails.

Sorted Lalaki, many thanks, it was the meta tag. I'd never have spotted that - and even if I had, it wouldn't have occurred to me that it could be causing the problem!

    Maith an fear!

I copied your image list code and 1 image page code into DreamWeaver and validated and couldn't get past the META tag. You are coding for XHTML / Transitional which requires strict validation.

Rule of thumb: Every individual tag above BODY tag, keep each separately on 1 line even if they stray way off to the right of the screen. What ever your editing software is, switch off "Wrapping" which forces carriage returns.

    Glad you got it sorted.

    Idea Phantom:

Your Navbar with the links for Home, Images etc. Look to the left and right of it and you will see extra lines about 1 pixel wide.

Maybe try "border-left:0px;" and "border-right:0px;" for the NavBar DIV.

Again, just an idea for a smooth look.

    Ah, right.

I took a quick look at your site and it looks good.

Default I am having the same issue. Centered in Firefox, left in IE

I am having the same issue on sandbox(.)swhoward(.)com/contact/contact.php. Everything is centered and looks fine on all of the other pages but this one page is left aligned and I can't figure out why.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

Looked okay in Firefox, bad in IE.

Your contact page is missing a DOCTYPE and the "html xmlns" attributes.

Check your other pages at the very top to see what I mean.

    @SwHoward

I like when I click your "copyright" link. Can I ask how you are achieving this? Is it with JavaScript and CSS? Looks nice. Also, the "Tag Cloud" concept, again - nice. Can I ask for any tips or pointers on these effects. Site looks good with clean lines.
