| Just thinking about the following: What would defines a good domain name? Something thats easily remembered? Relates directly to your content? Etc? |
| ||||
| Definitely should relate to the business [SEO and all that] and being easily remembered is high on the list too. Two others I'd throw in... Shouldn't be too long, otherwise you fall foul of typos. Should be easy to quote over the phone. In other words, avoid hyphens/underscores if possible as they are tricky to describe to a computer-illiterate. Also numbers can cause confusion [I wonder how many have tried to get into 'otwo.ie' instead of 'o2.ie'??!!] |

| Should be easy to spell

| Just coming back to this again ... Some business sectors in this country seem to have a fixation with using surnames in their domains, so you end up with incredibly long and forgettable domain names with little or no semantic value. Depending on the market that they are aiming at the choices are plentiful especially in IE namespace where a mere 50k domains currently exist

| As bk said, .ie domains are still plentiful enough to have a single recongnizable short word as your domain. I reckon .coms are at such a saturation point though, that the only effective domain creation tactic left is using two relatively uncomplicated, but unrelated words together. That way, you can put together memorable and unique domain names, the more nonsensical the easier to remember. |

| The other option would be to use a lesser known ccTLD such as .in (You can have great fun coming up with combos
