Default RegisterFly lose ICANN accreditation

Anyone been following the RegisterFly story? There's been some nasty rumours and allegations over the last couple of months about the 2 owners.

After passing the buck for ages, ICANN now seems to have finally done something about it and RegisterFly's ICANN accreditation will be terminated on March 31st.

Not sure where that will leave the company, but if anyone has domains with them, I would advise them to check their accounts (there have been reports of domains going AWOL from customers accounts).

Link to ICANN press release is here

It sounds like anyone who has domains with them is in trouble. There doesn't seem to be any easy way to get domains out of there without Register Fly's help, so I can see a lot of very upset people

I've been chatting to a few people that are having problems getting their domains out. Seems nobody is answering their support requests.

Thankfully I have never used them.

That's hardly surprising.

From what I can gather the company has gone

I see they are still flying the ICANN logo but in saying that they still have a few days left.

Would something like this send a company under? They do provide other services as well.

From what I heard elsewhere the company has changed ownership a couple of times in the last few weeks. There have been issues surrounding them for months which culminated in eNom pulling their account

It seems they could be heading for more trouble if they don't sort out the transfer issues. Mike Zupke from ICANN is now getting involved to help people out. See RegisterFly Update March 10 2007

Although I cant find the official blog for Mike, I'm a bit slack today.

I'm pretty sure that they'll be bought out. I think they still have a pretty big customer base.

I will agree that someone will probably step in and try to buy them out. They do have a large customer base but many of them are trying to scramble. I wonder what % of their customers know about the news and are trying to leave.

Been following lightly. I feel really sorry for their customers.

Does anyone know if ICANN will transfer to a new registrar?

I will assume no notifications of expiration will be sent either. I'd say a lot of people are going to loose their domains because of it and there will be a lot of vultures snapping those domains when they drop.
