You can, but you are using that to take advantage of a potential hole in the registry rules

Only as much as using http://www.orn.com/porn/ is.
Unless the IEDR can censor your content (which I believe includes directories/subdomains/pages) then shouldn't subdomains be out of bounds.

An RBN is an intention to trade as the name registered and has tax implications.

How is one taking advantage of a hole in the IEDR's policies, and not the other one?
Well it would be interesting to see how IEDR is handling the EUbrowser problem where hundreds of generic terms, typos of Google and even well known trademarks like Nike, Bebo, Adidas, Irish Independent, Sunday Independent were registered purely for the purposes, in the case of the TMs, of cybersquatting.

As far as I am aware, the IEDR are not allowed censor on content or define what is and what isn't art.
No. But they are permitted to decide what can and cannot be registered. The Minister makes the ultimate decision though.

A lot of ccTLDs have restrictions on which words maybe registered. In many cases they have restricted lists which makes it that bit easier, but not always

As for http://p.orn.ie/ , this is live now ? Or is it locked ? I see that orn.ie redirects to the subdomain with the p.

Is there any other hard to register names ?
