Default .ie domain is suspended?

Hello

If a .ie domain expired a month or two ago, and its status is suspended, does that mean it's about to be released, or is something else going on?

Thanks a million.

It generally means that it has not been paid for. It may be available again for reregistration - as long as you can prove entitlement etc.

If it is suspended then it should become available on a Friday after midday, though it won't appear in the deleted list for another two weeks

Cool, thanks for the replies.

So if a domain is marked as suspended, can I apply for it? Or do I have to wait until it says it's not registered?

Thanks again.

If it's suspended the original owner can still renew it, so no - you can't try to register it.

Is there any way to calculate when it will be released ?

i.e. if a domain is due to be renewed in the middle of January,
then they will be invoiced at the start of February
which needs be to paid around the start of March (30 days)
then it will have the suspended status for 2 weeks (i.e march 7th - 21st)
and then it should have the status deleted and be available to register ?

I ask this because I see a domain that I would like to register, but it is showing as suspended, and the renew date was the middle of January.

It's not that easy to calculate unfortunately.

A lot will depend on how pro-active the IE reseller who it's registered with is in terms of managing the expired domains etc.,

Cheers Michele, I don't think there is a way for a peon like me to check this.
The only time they will be released is Fridays at noon , right ?

Another scenario is the registrant has paid but the reseller has not paid the registry yet.
