Default sub-domain question

Hi All,
Just wondering if there's any effect on my google rankings/indexing if I use http://website.com instead of http://www.website.com? I'm asking because I just got issued with an SSL cert and it's made out to http://website.com so I'm a bit unsure if this is going to effect my site indexing in any way.
Also, on another topic, what are the advantages/disadvantage of using sub-domians? Are they also indexed by Google or are they all considered part of the main domain?
Thanks,
Bearaman

Use http://website.com then and redirect all traffic from www.website.com to website.com. Dont keep both alive.

Sub domains are considered separate sites, although a relationship does exist obviously. For instance doing dodgy stuff on the main domain and getting caught can affect sub domains also, whereas the opposite is not the case to avoid parasite hosting damaging main domains.

Sub domains can work very well if you have a authoritative main domain with a good backlink profile. Otherwise a sub domain wont be too dissimilar to starting on a fresh new domain.

Hope that helps.
Rgds
Richard
