Default Procedure to follow when buying a .ie domain from someone

Hello

Let's say I have agreed a price for a .ie domain.

Does anyone know what the procedure is to get the domain transferred into my name?

Have any of you done this before?

Thanks

technically its "illegal" ??? to sell a .ie domain name isn't it ? due to them being handed out by the iedr ? so I would guess there isn't a procedure as such on this ?

Yeah, I'm not sure.

Even if I don't need to pay any money for it, is there a set of paper work required or anything like that?

Thanks

Change Domain Holder should be what you're after

Quote:
To transfer the ownership of a domain the following requirements must be fulfilled.

1. A signed fax on headed paper from the current administrative contact must be submitted, stating that they authorise the cancellation of the domain name for the purpose of having it reassigned to future holder.

2. Information from the future owner showing their claimon the proposed name as per our registration policies. Please refer to the following url:

Quick Guide To Registrations

3. The future holder should also provide contact details for the future administrative contact, together with information showing their claim on the proposed name as per our policies.

All of these requirements should be submitted simultaneously to avoid the possibility of the domain being cancelled, without first ensuring that the future holder has supplied all necessary requirements for registration.
Wasn't being smart with the selling a .ie thing ... either .. (it does happen but ... )

It's a messy one.

You cannot advertise or solicit monies for a .ie domain that you have registered.

Basic logic is that this breaks the rules, as the rules govern the assignment of the domain.

So the ownership change process came into being ....

We've had several clients move domains around using this process over the last year. It's a very Irish solution

Any idea on how long a change of IE registrar should take ? I need to do it on Monday next week and I don't want the site to be offline for too long.

I want to change registrar, and move from a reseller of the hosting to my account with the hosting (H365).

Reseller or registrant change?

If you're just moving the billing from one IE reseller to another it should be possible to get it done in the same day.

Moving from a reseller to another, and moving the domain from the host. The registrant remains the same.

thanks michelle.
