Default Problem with DNS between godaddy and letshost

Hi there,

Has anybody experienced a problem when trying to direct a .ie domain registered with letshost to a godaddy account? Letshost are rejecting the DNS details given to me by godaddy and both parties say it's the others problem. Been emailing both for several weeks now and while they are quick in responding they just keep telling me the same thing which isn't getting me anywhere! perhaps it's something I'm doing wrong as it's the first time I've not had a domain with my hosting company.

Any advice much appreciated

You can check if the dns is setup correctly using this tool:

Thanks Blacknight,

That's coming back with fatal errors. In the meantime godaddy have come back and said Letshost may have specific requirements for the .ie name servers and I need to get back on to them for those requirements so that godaddy can verify name server settings. Letshost have said they don't before but I'll try them again.

Thanks again.

The DNS has nothing to do with the provider you got the domain through

Basically for a .ie domain to work all nameservers used (Godaddy's in your case) need to have records for the domain and they have to "agree".

If you run that check and you get fatal errors on Godaddy's side then they need to sort it out

Thanks Blacknight,

Thats' what I thought (I'm not a pro at this though so good to hear that for certain) but godaddy keep sending me the same DNS details. I'll give it one more round of emails and then I'm thinking in future of not using godaddy for .ie domains as it's too much of a headache. They seem fine for domains registered with them.

The "problem" might be that Godaddy and others don't need to worry about having RFC compliant DNS entries for most of the domains they host. A .com, for example, will work with badly configured dns

This is a common occurrence with .ie domains, and is usually resolved quickly with Irish hosting companies understanding the dns requirements of the .ie nameserver change.

Thanks for the advice all, quick update is that after another round of emails I have given up trying to point my .ie to godaddy

In future I will host with LetsHost for my .ie domains and godaddy for .coms etc.

Thanks again.
