Default How long before a domain is dropped

Hello There,

I was wondering if anyone can advise, there is a domain I am looking to get which had a renewal date of 8th June.

How long should it take to drop, as I want to see if I can grab it and is still currently unavailable to register

Thanks in advance
Remo

75 days I believe ?

Though I could be wrong ...

If its semi popular .. chances are its going to be registered by someone else.

edit: I say that so a not to get your hopes up ... you could go and offer the original owner something for it.

Alternatively some of the real domainers on here will be able to give better advice

its a .ie and just a name I like, I know registering a .ie there a few hoops to jump through but I dont mind going the CRO route

There is at least one comprehensive topic on this issue already posted here (dot IE drops). Try the search function.

I've posted about this a few times in the past

Basics:

- renewal date in whois is meaningless, as the registry doesn't proactively deactivate domains on renewal date
- just because a domain has past its renewal date doesn't mean anything
- only important thing is domain's status ie. "locked" "active" "suspended"
