Default Registering a .ie

Just how "relaxed" have the IEDR got with registering .ie domains?
Haven't registered a .ie in ages and have a friend who wants to do so with a url which isn't his registered business name?
Anyone have any current experiences with this?

thanks,
Oceanwaver

If your friend has a registered business and can show a claim / connection to the name it should be possible to register it

Default .ie is too restrictive and a waste of time

Hi, as far as im concerned, its a shame that we cant register .org.ie or .edu.ie etc. Or maybe .co.ie - having just .ie and restricting it to business is detrimental to .ie uptake.

Loosening the grip of .ie is better.

The IEDR aren't interested in offering second levels, though I personally think it would make a lot of sense and do away with a lot of headaches ie.

me.ie for personal use or co.ie for business and ltd.ie etc., etc

not so sure ... I see the population as being quite small and don't really like all the dot dot domains. Maybe its just me and how I see them though.
