Default Am I the first person to notice this?

I am on the Irish whois and I am looking for the initial registration date of the .IE domains. I notice that it does not display the original registration date at all. I also ran a few tests on those websites using websitegrader and under domain registration date it says N/A

Now, I have been lead to believe that the longer a site has been around the better it ranks in Google.

Now if Google cannot see the registration date then this method of ranking is obsolete, giving Irish websites less importance over others.

I could be way off the mark here, but I thought id ask.

A lot of ccTLDs do not display registration dates in WHOIS.

It's not a problem for ccTLD domains, so your assertion is incorrect

Google owns their own domain registry so they can see whatever records they want . At least that's my understanding.

Err no

Google are an ICANN accredited registrar which is for gTLDs ie. com / net / org / info / biz, however they aren't active

They may be using the accreditation to do data mining

IE domains have nothing to do with ICANN
