    Default registering IE (Ireland) domains for a non-resident

    hi, can anyone help me about registering an .ie domain economically?

    I'm not Irish myself and it seems the .ie domain is reserved for Irish people or those who have business in Ireland. I do intend to target the Irish market but don't have a company there - it seems however that I could register the domain indirectly under an agency such as instra.com

    This isn't cheap and will cost me some EUR 84.00 per year to maintain...

    Can someone give me some info on the situation of domains of Ireland and perhaps how I (as a resident in the European Community) but outside Ireland can register a .ie domain without it costing me so much? I've used the search function on this forums and it seems there were some threads pertaining to this topic in the past but i think things must have changed if there are domain registrars out there that accept you as non-UK resident and act as your agent.

    I've no idea what Instra are telling you, but there's no "local presence" option available for .ie registration - if there was we'd offer it

    The agent option anyway is not viable - anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about

    If you are an EU resident or not isn't important

    Do you have a functioning business at present?

    Do you have any clients or suppliers in Ireland?

    If you can show proof of trade with Ireland ie. doing business with Irish consumers / businesses it should be enough
