Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Product and Project Managers and working closely with the engineering team you will be responsible for the front end design of Propylon’s product suite.

Working in a dynamic environment, you will be a superbly talented and innovative developer and be comfortable with working to deadlines. You’ll have proven experience of developing large scale internet platforms. You will also be a self starter who is passionate about generating new and interesting ideas and using technology in creative, yet practical ways.

You will understand the direct link between technology development and the achievement of commercial objectives.

Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Design user interfaces to the highest standards.
  • Create and implement flexible designs and layouts that other developers can easily adopt and reuse.
  • Take hands on role throughout all stages of the project.
  • Liaise with the engineering teams, specifying designs and best practices for product user interfaces.
  • Liaise with the customer, capture requirements and produce designs and layouts to meet requirements.


Essential skills:
  • 4+ years solid commercial web development with as strong eye for design and usability / UI.
  • Extremely high attention to detail and to final project quality.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • High sense of ownership for projects.
  • Strong HTML experience.
  • Deep knowledge of web site usability and information architecture.
  • Wireframe experience.
  • HTML, DHTML, CSS, AJAX, JavaScript experience.
  • Solid appreciation of fundamentals such as scalability and security.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines.


Desirable Skills:
  • Python development experience.
  • Django development.
  • Experience of Web 2.0 projects.
  • Adobe products experience.
  • AWT and SWING experience would be beneficial.
  • Advanced knowledge of multimedia software (Flash and Dreamweaver) a plus.


The successful candidate will:
  • Have a pro-active approach and ability to anticipate potential issues.
  • Have the ability to learn and adapt to changing IT systems, prioritise a daily workload and be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
  • Have attention to detail.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Have strong personal initiative.


The successful candidate will be required to travel internationally as part of this role.
