Description:
The successful candidate plays an integral role, working with Research and Technology Development Scientists and Engineers, in the integration of new technologies, methods and/or processes. The successful candidate will be capable of utilizing the incumbent’s materials knowledge to conduct basic analysis of test data and technology development initiatives, and suggest innovative ways to meet the needs of their R&TD team in the successful development of global continence care/bladder related product technologies. The successful candidate will be capable of interfacing with senior management within the organization and to work with and support the Global Marketing organization for the successful completion of specific objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the R&TD group, working from basic clinical needs to device concept to prototype development ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements

Investigating and testing of new materials including competitor product testing and construction of prototype sample development

Analysing and evaluating new/alternative testing methodologies and provide recommendations for improvements

Providing technical support to NPD, Global Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing.

Supporting the R&TD team, executing development and investigative plans and assignments, communicate observations and outcomes on a timely basis.

Evaluating novel investigative and experimental methods, modifications or test procedures; as well as executing data collection plans and providing input to systems and methods which advance analyses and substantiate team recommendations.

Education, Experience & Skill:

Ordinary Degree in Materials/Polymer Science /or Engineering (Polymer)/Bio Medical or Honors Degree.

Ordinary Degree – 4+ years relevant industry experience preferably in medical devices, hygiene or packaging industries

Honors Degree – 2+ years relevant industry experience preferably in medical devices, hygiene or packaging industries

Manufacturing tooling experience and prototype development

Some knowledge of polymer materials including surface modifications, coating technologies and plastic sealing techniques

Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D modeling experience

Demonstrated analytical problem solving abilities

Good organization and communications skills

Good team skills a high level of enthusiasm and motivation

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Good working knowledge of medical device quality & regulatory systems and medical device directives
