The Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) wishes to recruit a Maintenance Fitter. Applicants should have completed a recognised apprenticeship and hold trade qualifications. Applications from qualified fitters who have gone on to gain further qualifications are welcome.
Suitable candidates will have a number of years experience working on state of the art PLC controlled equipment and machinery within a fast paced manufacturing / industrial environment.
The person should have knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, motion control systems etc. and should have a demonstrated ability to fault find and troubleshoot and be able to work on their own initiative. An ability to work independently is essential. A person who can demonstrate experience in the installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of high speed production / processing or packaging machinery is required.
Functional Responsibility
The duty of the Fitter is to carry out preventative maintenance, repair work and fault finding in consultation with the Engineering Supervisor or as required by operations personnel. The Fitter will provide a full engineering support service to ensure that the main facilities, structures and machinery of the Bank are in excellent condition and are compliant with all statutory requirements. The person is expected to work closely with operations personnel to ensure the continuous running of machinery and to maintain uptime to a satisfactory level. An ability to think and fault find under pressure is therefore essential.
Mechanical Services – The provision of reliable compliant and flexible mechanical services. Competence in Milling, Turning, Electric Arc and Gas welding is essential. The provision and maintenance of all existing and new mechanical services, including boilers, generators, ups systems, chillers, lifts, air conditioning systems, production machines and all other equipment situated on the Bank’s premises.
Health & Safety Systems – The compliance with existing Health & Safety legislation and the maintenance of equipment in accordance with these requirements.
Engineering Systems – The use, maintenance and upgrading of the existing building management systems and preventative maintenance systems.
Records and Information – The provision and maintenance of engineering records, including Pemac and any other recording systems which may be installed in the future.
Training – To participate fully in the Banks Training Programme and the Engineering Training Programme as required in order to achieve a satisfactory level of competence.
Overtime Arrangement – Overtime must be worked as required.
Shift Working – To participate in shift working arrangements as required.
On Call – The Fitter is required to partake in the on call systems operated by the Bank as per the on call arrangements.
Specific Responsibility
• To agree priorities with the Supervisors on a weekly basis for future maintenance work.
• To ensure reasonable familiarity and compliance with Bank policy and procedures particularly in relation to security, safety, hygiene and personal matters.
