Hey all,

I've gone for hosting with Digiweb - the basic €20 per annum lark for a friend who has a club website. He had the domain elsewhere, but after much ado, Digiweb finally got the transition over to them. They now have domain and hosting for the site.

However, every time I upload a change to the site (using Filezilla) no changes appear in my browser for a few days!! I can manually type in new urls and they appear in Firefox, but the site shows no changes after refreshing and clearing history etc...

I've done a plethora of sites for mates and clubs and such, and the change is always instantaneous with other hosting services. I contacted them and they tell me that UPC (my ISP) obviously hasn't updated their DNS servers or something like that.

Any thoughts people?

Thanks in advance!

Hi guys,
So I have a domain with two parts to it. Theres a forum and a blog. Now, I know that its not a good SEO technique, but I want to have a landing page as my main domain (www.filmandgamecomposers.com) like this one:

title

Now I know theres a LOT of things wrong with it...
1. The amount of &nbsp;
2. The size of the background image is huge
3. Its not SEO friendly
4. I'm sure theres loads more lol....

I basically just want it to be able to link to a few sites I have which are all
related. I barely get much traffic as it is from search engines, so it doesnt
bother me too much to be honest.

I need some help though - that page is so badly made, that it shows up
differently in each browser. Is there a way to just get those 4 icons to
stay in the middle of the page without them moving anywhere?

Has anyone done any template management work? With Word?-

Lets take an example: we have a contract. There are many existing paragraphs we need to insert and also some ad-hoc ones. So we have a menu with tick boxes to select the clauses, insert client name/address etc.

Using ASP.net to do HTML version has left us with some problems, namely

1. Text Format Issues (spacing, justification)
2. Cannot insert page numbers (Word Style)
3. Cannot insert page breaks.

Any better solution - PHP based, component or otherwise would be greatly appreciated

Just posting this for those that missed it. Paste in an address and it spiders the site and comes up with keywords - its not set up for the .ie domains - but you can copy and past to see the web traffic locally.
As I am a 'newbe' I am not allowed post a url, or anythng that even smells of one .......he says....after trying to submit this .....twice..... So to i had to truncate it - but you get the link
Just wondering what the recommendations are on this one? I know most of ye are pretty on the ball with all ranges of web development but for me my coding is ok but I don't have design skills. Would people recommend buying templates? Would you have any recommended sites for this? I was happy to use template monster before but if this is the route I'm going then I'd probably need something cheaper?
Thanks

Hi guys,

I have read a few threads on this but I'm still stuck ! I have an array which is a shopping basket, and it holds details about each item, and a number of items. For example, one users basket may be..

Topside Joint
Cotswold Edge
beef
9
1

Pork
Cotswold Edge
sausages
6.00
1

which is the output as...

$name = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['name'];
$supplier = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['supplier'];
$category = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['category'];
$price = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['price'];
$qty = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['qty'];

echo $id . "<br />";
echo $name . "<br />";
echo $supplier . "<br />";
echo $category . "<br />";
echo $price . "<br />";
echo $qty . "<br />";

I KNOW this is a bad method (and it doesn't even work!) but this is how my code currently stands:

foreach($_SESSION['basket'] as $key => $another)
{
$name = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['name'];
$supplier = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['supplier'];
$category = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['category'];
$price = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['price'];
$qty = $_SESSION['basket'][$key]['qty'];

$sql = "INSERT INTO orders VALUES(0,'".$id."','".$oid."','".$name."','".$pric e."','".$supplier."','".$category."')"
$result = mysql_query($sql, $connection)
or die("MySQL Error: ".mysql_error());
}

How can I do this in a way thats a) better/more efficient and b) just works?

Thanks in advance

Hi all

If you had the choice, which would you do; start a website or a blog, if your goal was to make money from it?

The reason is that I'm currently making money off-line (about 100 euro per month) by recommending a service to individuals (in Ireland) and I'm getting paid for referring them. With a little more effort, I could increase that revenue by turning those offline conversations into either a website or blog - and I'm wondering whether people think I should start a blog about the topic - or create a more formal website - or somewhere in between?

I have a website and blog for another affiliated business, so I think I can generate enough content for either. Bit I'm not technically gifted. I also have databases (built up in the other affiliated business) that I can use for e-mail etc and cross selling.

Any thoughts?
