Default vbulletin query

I want a specific banner at the header of each of my forums..
I can access the current forum id okay and echo it from my header...

My Q is - where can i define an array of Strings so that it echoes the banner when i stick $banner[$forumid] in my header template? (Vbulletin 3.6)

any info appreciated
cheers
niall

You could name your banner pictures banner1.jpg/banner2.jpg/banner3.jpg and have an array of URLs to correspond.

Anyway I think there are multiple hacks for this.

There is a template file called headinclude that you are looking for.

aha - nice one
I tried declaring the urls array in the header in <??>'s and it didn't work - and all the docs i could find were from old vbull versions (and referred to templates which i cannot find..)

I'll have a nosey tonight - ty for the reply good sir

I'd also recommend checking out the vbulletin.org forums - someone has probably come up with a hack for this already ............

yeah I did check the vbull forum , however but there's way too many versions and hacks imo (I ended up looking for non-existent templates etc..)

In the end, I just edited forumdisplay.php and added an array of URL/Image strings there.. seemed like a logical place to put it, and it works, so I am a happy chappie.

That's not a very sane way of doing it, as you'll have issues with upgrades.

I'd have looked at the phpads / openads integration instead, as that would probably have given you the same level of control via templates

I am a lazy hacker - what can i say.
regarding future upgrades - I have externalised the array of urls/images, so I have 1 include directive in the forumdisplay.php and 1 line in my header template - so upgrading will mean adding 2 lines of script.. good enough for me.
