smf spamming (and other forum software)

i am the spammers! i have xrumer and it doesnt do smf, just phpbb and vbulletin

When I was running SMF, I never had any major spam problems.

Hello, new member here

As you might get from my name, I am the owner of the site mentioned above. I understand that Xrumer may not be the culrpit here.. I was trying to warn fellow webmasters about this program, though, since it has definitely affected some of my partner's forums.

The 'bot' or program that spammed my sites were probably homegrown and not the XRumer program (since there are claims that it does not work with SMF).

At the time, the program that was used was spamming several of my forums at a rate of 10-40 new accounts per day and lots of posts (from pharma to casinos, to porn, to all link posting).

Anyway, just thought I would clarify the issue since I ran across this post

Thanks! BTW - since moving to VBulletin for those sites, the spamming stopped completely. Not that VB cannot be spammed, it can, trust me... Just hasn't been yet.
