| Is it worth the money to spend when its just for a small site?? What are the benefits over SMF? |

| I've never used SMF for longer than I needed to achieve something ie. help someone with a specific task Personally I love vbulletin as it comes with so many features out of the box. Version 3.7 is even more feature rich (if you want to have a peek sign up to: Technology Forums - Discuss Computers, Software, Gadgets and Technology - ) The number of extensions / modifications and hacks is incredible and unlike so many of the other php / mysql apps it has a very good security record Personally I think it's worth it

| I have only one license at the moment, and thinking of getting a 2nd one. True it's a little expensive, but it well worth it. If you consider the costs over a longer period of time it makes more sense. I think it is great, and with VBSeo you can really get some good SEO value out of it. How small is the site going to be ?

| Guess I'm in the same boat ... mulling over the ideas of getting some forums going ... specifically 2 (short term) ... The license costs 160$ which is about 110€ so hmm.. Guess its my old .. "why pay when there are free alternatives" feelings vBulletin + vBseo + any other commercial plugins I should know about ? 160$ + 149$ ... + (for a pet project its already a bit of an outlay) Any Non-Commerical plugins ye can't live without ?

160$ + 149$ ... + (for a pet project its already a bit of an outlay) There's loads However some of them are being superceded by VB themselves in the latest release which is currently in beta

| the latest vBulleting is 2.6.8 ? or do members get access to betas ? .. (2.7 ? or 3.0 ? release) I figure I might as well have an install to play around with .. having it on a live site will mean I'm more prone to doing something with it Now its leased vrs ... purchased ... Purchased ... price for two years 160 + 30 = 190 (then the third year makes it 220) Leased ... 85 + 85 = 170 (then the third year starts to make a major loss and it becomes 255) What is the resale value on it like ? I assume I'm allowed to sell on my purchased copy of it ? ( I think I've heard you mention getting a domain / vBulletin install before when you purchased a domain ? ) (And here I had been wondering what to do with the money on my paypal account) |

| Latest version is 3.6.8. You can download the current beta, but it is not 100% supported. You can sell a purchased license, read the TOS Jelsoft may, at its discretion, allow you to transfer your Software license to another party, providing the license:

| Thats another thing, all the SMF mods/addons are free where as VB is most likly pay! I'm re-doing conspiracy.ie and going to relaunch it but trying to decide what would be my best bet forum wise, i dont want to use SMF and change down the road etc as there is a problem with moving from SMF to VB, passwords aren't brought over to VB and every user has to use the password reset function once you move from SMF to VB! |

There are a couple of commercial plugins / addons but the majority are free
