    Default Getting spam texts

    Hey,

My girlfriend's phone was stolen last week. She cancelled the number the following day.

It seems like the scumbag who stole it signed up for some premium sex line.

She's now getting messages like -

FreeMSG Good customer offer!! Bored housewife blah blah blah reply BH1 to 57865 4 noclubs

    1. Is she being charged for this nonsense?
    2. How does she get it to stop?

    Cheers!!!

She should contact her phone company to find out...

Yes, her phone company should have a list of what she is subscribedto and be able to cancel them, or direct her to a number where she can cancel them!

Im a bit confused (not difficult).

How is she getting the text messages if her number has already been cancelled?

    Sorry forgot to update this.

I rang up Vodafone, they checked out the service for me, and told me to send a text to STOP XXXXX (whatever the number was.) Worked fine!

@Gavin: well, her sim was cancelled, but the replacement sim used the same number...

You're lucky, I got some Service Message Spam a few weeks ago. As it turns out, Vodafone can't help, you have to contact the Data Protection Commissioner. Have had contact back from them since, it will be interesting to see what comes from it.
