 Membership of Professional Organisations What professional organisations are you a member of or you would recommend that people join? Am thinking of the likes of IIA, ICS, PMI etc .         |

| A lot will depend on where you are based, as most of the organisations are very much Dublin centred Ones to avoid: - SFA - they seem to revel in sending lots of dead trees and asking you to pay over the odds for lunch - BNI - unless you're very lucky it's a total waste of time

| The IIA have some good events - Irish Internet Association - Events which would be worth attending, if only to help networking.

| There aren't any Irish ones specifically for web dev.. You'll find asp developers, php dev groups, ruby dev groups etc., but nothing which really covers the lot. I think Irish Developer Network ICT Portal - Technology News, Software Events Calendar, Tech Blogs, ICT Jobs Portal & Message Boards for programmers, software developers and ICT professionals in Ireland made an attempt at bringing it all together, but it's always been very M$ oriented

| I did see a MySQL group here - The Dublin MySQL Meetup (Dublin) - Meetup.com Perhaps there's a Web Dev one as well, or someone is interested in setting something up |
