For years I faithfully watched Coronation Street and East Enders, then the number of sieges, murders and other events in just one area overwhelmed me and I gave up.

Forbairt, your remark about your sci-fi dvd collection amused me. My husband can't stay in the room a minute when Big Bro is on, yet he will sit through endless re-runs of the old Hammer Horrors, which I find completely shallow in plot and character. It really is all relative, I guess. At least where unimportant things are concerned.

She likes very different movies to me for the most part .. though from time to time one like KungFu panda comes along

I quite like arthouse movies from time to time but find they can be quite depressing as well ... La Vita è bella I mean was a beautiful movie but god its depressing

Nothing quite beats a good zombie flick though

(ok I got sci fi .. zombies ... world war II movies and a panda into that post ... I'm impressed with myself)

I don't know why you find what I said insulting, as it was just my opinion and I'm quite prepared to let you have yours. I don't think 'normal folks' are boring at all, and those on Big Bro don't seem to be too abnormal to me, either. No two individuals in the world are exactly alike, but it's only when the spotlight is trained on anyone that you can see how unique he or she is.

Being compared to a bunch of childish, moronic, 'do anything for 15mins of fame' idiots will always be insulting.

I don't think I was properly clear on this point(in the middle of a meeting when I wrote it...) - Either do I. I enjoy the company of normal people. I'm even known to have a conversation or two a week with these normal people.
ah here. not abnormal? Apart from my early joking, I have quite a sociable job. I meet a lot of people in it and can categorically say that these people are not normal. Or at least they don't act it. And I don't need to have a spotlight on me to realise how unique I am. or the people I work with, or drink with, or get the train with in the morning. And I hope that no-one else feels that they need to go on a stupid tv program to be considered unique.

Anyway, I've ranted enough. And really I can't talk about TV taste as I'm a CSI fan and I'm sure many people see that as stupid too.
