Thumbs up Google Chrome

Just spent some time playing with Google Chrome - Download a new browser Looks neat. renders sites very well and quite fast too. Not too sure if I like the suggestions being popped up while typing an address though.

Doesn't look like websites need to be coded specifically for it either as every site that I've been too looked and worked the way I thought it should.

So, at first glance it looks like it could become my default browser.

What do y'all think?

Yeah - I could really get to like this (tapping this out on it right now...). Very nice. Renders my site perfectly and most of the other sites that I've been to. Anyone know if its their own engine or they using someone elses? Is also spell checking without me having to ask it which is slightly strange but nice.

Feels nice to use - Though don't like the blank bit across the top - finding it irritating for some reason.

It's ok, I doubt I will use it as my primary browser anytime soon, but it is fast and looks alright.

Actually - looking around it looks like its using part of safari Webkit and Mozilla to make up the rendering engine.

Its also an Open Source project so we can expect about a billion add-ons. I wonder if the Firefox team are worried about it... hmmm.

Having played around with it I'm really liking the visual bookmarking thing its got going on. yeah I'm really liking it.

signed up for notification on the mac release ...

launched up a VM ... to have a play ... its nice ... but I don't really like the interface that much ... it is fast .. but then if you want fast you can always use lynx

Seems to be trying to take the best from all the current offerings ... wonder if they'll run into any legal issues ... hmm...

I have to say I like to too - I love the lack of clutter at the top - only the bare essentials are displayed. The IE toolbar was getting out of hand lately.

However, this might be a complete coincidence, but ever since I installed Chrome, Norton has been telling me that it has blocked intrusion attempts - port scans. Is this google trying to talk to the browser. I haven't noticed this before (another possibility is that Norton has updated itself today to now show pop up messages when it detects a port scan). Has anyone else noticed any strange behaviour?

I was going to ask around about this too. I get the feeling that its tracking every single thing I do but I didn't read the terms when I was installing it to test today.

Its not that I've noticed anything but there has to be a reason for putting out this browser. Could be the best tool for profiling people ever.
