| just introducing myself - ive just launched a website, am not an IT guy but believe the net is key to everything we do - Im an arts producer/programmer and find that the arts industry is very slow, in Ireland to use the net to its full potential. I want to help change that perception so hence im here......to learn, discuss, etc with all of you so hope you all have a good evening |

| welcome to the forum have one "arts" related site myself and I think the failure to adopt can be partially put down to a lack of budget. There are things I'd really really LOVE to do ... but budget limitations = thats a no no and the usual question I get asked is ... how much is that going to cost. (no I don't think I charge exorbantly) but its a fact there in a lot of cases money just isn't there in the arts for a lot of things.

| Hello Friends Hows life at your side of world ?? Well I am here and want to explore the knowledge of Webmaster and all. I hope you guys will help me to get this knowledge. Thanks |

| Money is an issue but Its all a question of priorities in the end - America so far ahead its not funny - theyre doing fantastic work over there - arts festivals are embracing the net. Here, there seems to be a reluctance to really embrace the internet - almost a suspicion - you just have to look at how the governmnet stumbles along, grudgingly, on the issue of broadband....anyway have a new arts resource site up and running and will introduce it to the forum in due course.... |

| did the Project06 website a few years back ... no money involved was nice to get involved with it though in my spare time |
| ||||
| Project 06 was great - finally a group of people said "No, enough is enough" In a previous incarnation I worked in street theatre, for about 10 years and remember working in Macnas in the early 90's learning basic puppet making and performing during the festival...it was that energy that got refound in in Project 06. I think the time has come for change - is coming.... |
| |||||
| unfortunately last year just seemed to slip back into commercialism again or maybe it was just me ... (thinking it ... not slipping into it) |
| ||||
| its alot of effort and you need to have a lot of energy - often a medium/long term plan helps keep the focus - like anything i guess. I always got the feeling that O6 was simply a protest and therefore lost all momentum after the festival |
| |||||
| The thing was ... it was a protest ... unfortunately all these things require a driving force behind them. I've had the pleasure of working with 2 people like this who can REALLY drive projects even not for profit projects. At the end of the day though we've all got commitments and it can be hard to devote the necessary time to it. Especially in arts. I've been asked this morning about doing a website for an "arts" type project ... unfortunately they've no money ... and well I've got to earn a living too |
| ||||
| money will always be a problem but first arts groups have to take the net seriously- theyll spend thousands on quads, billboards, brochures, radio and press ads but not a penny on their own sites... |
