| I wonder if anyone can help. I bought a new computer and it is a 64 bit - my o2 mobile broadband will not work any more and o2 tell me they cannot help as the kit is not compatable. Anyone else have this problem? Is 64 bit worth the trouble? And if not can I configer the new computer to run as only 32 bit? Thanks

| 64-bit OS's versions should have native support for 32-bit S/W.

| And it does happen that way for most of my software - but the huawei mobile broadband from o2 will not work at all, and i have spent too much time on the phone already. Good reason to buy a mini? It is vista. |

| I'm presuming it's 64 bit Vista you are running? You should find out who supplies O2 with the mobile broadband dongle. It's a USB key right? They may have updated drivers directly available from the manufacturers site. Another thing you can do is goto the Device Manager and check that the device is enabled properly or try clicking 'update drivers' and let your PC do a search on the web. Of course you'll need web access for that in the first place but you may have another PC in the house etc ?

| Manufacturer site checked and they don't support 64 bit vista... crap. I don't use it often - but when i do it is important. I still have another hp laptop running xp and it works fine with that - so maybe just have to switch data back and forward, but that becomes a pain sometimes, and i was hoping to have everything running from one mobile machine. i didn't even think of this when buying the machine - I made sure the expensive software ran fine - CS etc, but a bloody usb mobile!!! |

| btw O2 has their own (Irish based) forums , sadly the URL is not on the top of my head. it might be worth it to post your question there |

| That's rotten. I've been using 64 bit for about a year now and had some driver trouble at the start but thought things had improved greatly recently. I notice the O2 site says that it's Vista compatible. Well it is sort of but they should clarify. Maybe you can get a refund? |

| One dirty hack I had to use with to get Windows onto a PC which needed "special" drivers was to use an Ubuntu live disk to get 'net access. Download the drivers. Boot back into windows. Install and away you go ... Of course if the vendor doesn't have compatible drivers for your os version .... |
