Well... I wouldn't have web standards where you have it... I'd put it with either browsers or page layout as those places are where it has the biggest impact.

Is this basically your list of topics for the 10 weeks? You talk about 1 of these every week?

maybe web community covers it, but where do you talk about the audience? As in how to develop a site that is going to attract an audience? how to determine what your audience is etc?

No point in doing any web dev unless you understand who is going to use the site, why they are using it, how, when, where etc... Otherwise you may end up with a wonderful site from a technical point of view but has a very poor user experience.

The idea is to incorporate some presentation into each week, so yes is the answer, one for each week. I was thinking of them more along the lines of a theme as I would then also be working through a related tutorial each week as well.

I would be inclined to leave the web standards separate to the browsers as talking about browsers also means talking about cross-browser issues, which are definitely not web standard.

Your point about a websites audience, etc. is a valid one, and one I hadn't remembered when writing the original post. However, at the time I was thinking more along the lines of introducing newbie web builders to forums, etc. as places of support and information. Though this may be not as valid?

I think you'll find that cross browser related issues are exactly web standard issues... Its all about how different companies interpreted (or didn't) the standards when coding the rendering engines...
