Default Do squares pay better than skyscrapers?

Hello

Lokking at this: https://www.google.com/adsense/stati...AdFormats.html

I can see skyscrapers have 4 adverts, where as squares have 2.

Would I be right in thinking squares have the two most expensive adverts only, whereas skyscrapers have the two most expensive and two lesser priced ones?

Basically I want to maximise revenue from clicks, so I am thinking squares might be better.

Any opinions?

Thanks

Google aims to put the highest paying ads to the top, so generally the bottom two ads of a skyscraper would pay less but displaying more ads can also increase click through rates so it could even out in that way. Also if you are displaying more than one ad unit higher ad units will again usually pay more than ones lower down the page. If there is space I usually fill it with the extra ads, a good thing with a skyscraper is if someone scrolls down a page ads may still be visible without scrolling back.

Beside that is also the position of the ad on the page.
The ones on the left tends to get more click then the ones in the middle or right.

Thanks for the replies.

That's interesting louie, I'd never really thought of that. Might swap my ads from right to left and see what happens!

Cheers.
