Place Pages Are Really Taking over
First page is looking more and more like a business directory for a lot of searches,with the few organics pushed down to the bottom.Whats Googles master plan this time?-top place page spots are paid?
Seemingly theres no point in backlinking the place page either.
Yes, I have noticed this. It makes life difficult for us affiliates. For instance, I have a hotels in Bath site, but if you search for hotels in Bath, then a lot of the first page is Google Places. Interestingly though, the first 3 results aren't (so I guess there is still hope!!) It is however a worrying Google trend.
