Thumbs up Yeah I noticed a change..

Yeah I noticed a change. Unfortunately 1 of my websites went from 4 to 3 - although it appears no major drop in rankings. I have a feeling one of my links from a directory (or a few) may have been affected and hence my page rank dropped.

I say this because my website has new content published regularly and I have new influxes of links coming in (albeit from forum threads and other low pr pages).

It can be a little upsetting to see, however I'm working hard to push out a new website at the moment and I think that will attract more links from a larger variety of sites - just due to its content.

So yeah first time I've had a page drop in PR on me.

On the upside the company I work for, our PR went up across most domains. So this is a positive in terms of SEO I guess.

Why even bother looking at PR Gav? It has very little input to your overall ranks, at least from what I see.

Default Mainly because its an indicator.

I use it mainly because its an indicator. One of the few provided by Google. I realise it doesn't have a huge bearing on ranking these days, but when it goes down naturally you start to worry a little. (well I do anyway :P).

The Google PR doesn't help at all with ranking. It only shows that you have some strong incoming links (from a popular or well know website).

In my opinion - whats the point in having a good incoming link if the anchor text is not helping with the ranking? Isn't that what we are looking for (page 1 ranking)!!!!?

I do see your point with that. I'd rather start the worry as soon as the positioning starts dropping and not before hand. I've actually removed the PR tool bar since the start of the year to remove any distractions.

Just been checking the stats on one of our sites.

While the Google PR update has been positive (PR of 5 from 0) the amount of SE traffic still isn't that impressive

Looks like we'll have to do more tweaking
