Nowhere to far away to begin with, was working in London for 6 years was Business Development manager for ValueClick on there media side, did an internal move as Operations Manager for there search business
Just wanted to get under the hood of search, from there moved to Adlink

Then for the last year I was living in Chiang Mai Northen Thailand, running affiliate sites and doing some PPC arbitrage and enjoying the weather.

As you can see from my "Location" I am currently living under my bed and only leaving to do interviews

I lived in Chiang Mai for about 4 months a couple of years ago. Where exactly where you living? I miss the place so much. I was doing pretty much exactly the same thing as you!

That's some search CV you have! What made you go under your bed?

I was living off Suthep Road, just before the Canal Road before the University

So very near nimmanhaemin road. Non "farang" area, but only minutes away from the moat. I miss CM, do you miss the driving? bunch of lunatics, I was averaging watching 1 crash a week and managed in my time to get hit by a Moped, hit by a car and then another well that was my own fault :)

Why under my bed, more a case of why not than why. I was looking for something than got stuck and then realised I had a wireless network set up

Beats Dublins summer anytime

Ah, Chiang Mai ... how I wish I was back there now. And out of this crappy Irish summer weather... :(

Anyway, my name is Dara. I've been a web dev for maybe 4 years or so now. Did Elec Eng. in University and hated every minute of it.

I do mostly web applications and coding, as well as server admin with some design work and marketing also. I worked with the LAMP stack mostly (PHP), but now I've moved on to Django.

A couple of the projects I've done ...

Recruitage Recruitment Software
FlowerHour Index
EnglishTeachingKorea.com Intro

I've reached coders burn out I think. I want to work now in the online marketing / SEO field for a while...

cheers !

Welcome Anouilh.

It makes a change to have someone on board who's primary interest in life isn't SEO and all that!!

:D

Nice to meet you, Richardo. I have to develop at least a basic SEO capability, in order to help a friend who is trying to become more prominent on the web. At the moment, life is quite relaxed, however.

I have joined a few forums and wandered off after a while, I know a reasonable amount on seo and a little on web design, I am amazed here. I found this site from a mail list and thinking it would be local and not too good. But I am stunned at the quality of people posting here. Keep it up and help me learn more, cheers.

Hi all
My name is Rob and myself and my partner run D-Tour web development. www.d-tour.ie
I got into web development in an awkward kinda way.
Bout 4 years ago I started a music magazine www.drop-d.ie over a few years I kept redesigning the site myself (as it is a non profit making venture I had no dosh to get it designed professionally.) I am redesigning again - only learned about css this year ;) … and plan to begin SEO on it - at least a little.

A few people started asking me to develop/design some simple sites for them, and it kinda led the way to D-Tour as it is now. I've been doing it semi full time for the last 6 months and am finding it hard to get the right balance of learning new things (technologies, best practices etc) and earning money (trying to find a good marketing mix that works).

This is a great site and resource and I look forward to learning more and chatting to ye guys,
Rob
