Where in the VB4 documentation is this covered?
In VB3 there are two search options, 1 is internal ie. managed by the software, while the other uses MySQL's own settings.
Hi,
With the latest version of vBulletin (Version 4.0.0) it is not possible search for words with less then 4 characters. This is a problem for me and my forum.
I currently have shared hosting so editing the "ft_min_word_len" in my phpMyAdmin is not possible. I asked my hosts would they change it but the said;
Do I have any other options other than moving to a dedicated server?We cannot change the configuration setting requested as it is configured for optimal shared performance.

See my thread on the vBulletin.com forum - vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?328334-Search-is-not-works-for-words-with-less-than-4-characters
They have since dropped the search system vB3 used.

The other option would be to use Google search:
Replace search with Google Custom Search - vBulletin.org Forum
You can either use the monetised version OR the non-monetised one (instructions there are for the monetised / adsense one)
