That might have been the case a few years ago, but is that still true?

Dont know about cost - but for the most part I have always hosted and encouraged others to host in Ireland with a specific host

I host all projects that are aiming Irish market in Ireland because of SEO since IP matters. Tried different companies around the world for different projects in the past and for some reason I was never satisfied with US based providers.

After much checking I have been informed by a top master that if you have a .ie then it is of negligible consequence if the ip of the host is foreign.
This fellow pointed out his own sites which are all on top of the google search and are hosted in america.

I host in Ireland using blacknight and find the price, speed and service to be on par if not better than any hosting in the US. I also host some older stuff on hostgo in the US.

I have hosting in UK, Ire, and US. US is the biggest market for adsense sites - Ire for Irish targeted sites.

If this post was asking if I was happy with Irish hosting...

The service I get in the US is great - I call and get good service on the phone - this does not happen here so much or the UK. I was buying some hosting recently and though I would buy in Ireland - I wanted a UK IP and I called a web hoster - I ended up just buying it in the UK from another company.

Also I don't feel like my US and UK hosting companies are in competition with me, they just provide hosting - it is a bit different here.

happy would be pushing it - I stopped smoking two weeks ago so I am never happy now! (and what is happiness?) (cranky $a7ard I am)

They are okay - I was in a hurry a year ago for a project and they were the right price. I have not had any problems that I am aware of.
