Default Torrent Trackers on Shared Hosting?

Is there any web hosting companies (irish or otherwise) that allow torrent trackers to be used on a shared server without having to go to the expense of buying a dedicated server. I intend to open a small tracker intergrated into my Vbulletin forum for sharing non-copyrighted files.

Cheers,
Richard

depends on the tracker but I believe port 6969 ...

One problem as I see it is most Tracker software needs to be compiled on the server ... and they tend to be a bit of a resource hog (100 mbs is one figure I've seen quote)

You'll also need a fixed IP (to the best of my knowledge) ...

Would'nt know what port is used. It would be this mod here:

SourceForge.net: VBTT - vBulletin Torrent Tracker

Says its written in PHP. It would only be a small tracker about 20-30 peers connected at the same time. Hope that helps and thanks for replys.

You wouldn't be able to host it with us, since we firewall our network.

You'd probably be able to do it with a lot of the other hosting companies however, as a lot of them have little or no firewalling in place

Like Michele we firewall our shared network, but you could probably run it off a dedicated server from about the 100-150 euro per month mark.
