If your looking overseas I would recommenced Hostpapa. Ireland, I heard good things about Blacknight.

I can honestly say I don't think I've ever heard anything bad said about them

I'm with another 2 irish .. ish .. crowds and one US crowd

And I could add ... never heard ... / read ... anything bad about them ... at least not that I can remember though I could be wrong

Blacknight looks good but the basic packages are a lot more basic than other Irish hosters.

Do most hosting companies support wordpress?

Blacknight I believe have one of the best uptimes (at least I've never had any issues ... unlike with my US host and another Irish host.

Well if they run mysql and php ... then more than likely you'll be able to run it .... they won't "support" it as such. Though some may have automagic installers for you
