    Default Product Distribution for e-Businesses

I'm involved with a couple of e-businesses and we have spent a lot of time refining our product storage and distribution services.

However, we probably under-utilise these services and from talking to some other e-business owners, I think there could be a business in providing Irish e-commerce businesses with this type of service.

Basically we are talking about secure product storage, nationwide delivery, drop-in collection point for customers and other order fulfillment services. Much of this is already in place for our own business, so we would just need to ramp it up if there was sufficient interest from other businesses.

Does anybody have views on how popular this type of service might be or the potential pitfalls?

In my opinion, and it's just that, from what I have seen and heard, there certainly IS a market for a fulfillment type service in Ireland.

I think I saw you mention in another thread about the volume in Ireland. You are correct. In most cases, it's not big enough to warrant an investment in a country wide fulfillment infrastructure. It just doesn't make financial sense.

I have a sneaking suspicion that that would change if someone else was taking care of that part of things. IMHO, I think you should investigate this further.
