Thread: Web Help Wanted

We have what is probably now an underperforming website, worse still the company responsible for manging updates and hosting has ceased trading. Need to urgently find company/freelancer to take a hard look and prepare a revamp. Professional experience, advice and design essential, we're keen to max up the web performance as well as expand online shop aspects etc.

The website looks nice, still requires a lot of work done in the background (code) for search engines.
The javascript for some links is taking over the window (full size) every now and then.

As FULL MEMBERS of ALCI, which is the Irish trade association for professional Landscaping companies, we have a members link as well as other links concerning some ALCI awards we've won etc.

I see. They do give a link back as well from teh members page.
Is your website based on a database?
Do you have an Admin Area to keep it up to date?

AFAIK there is no database aspect to website, not sure what/if any Admin Area is/was established. I'm out on a limb but need to pull allthese elements together and put manners and more coherent structure on the diversity of projects and visuals.

The first issue you will need to address as a matter of urgency is the domain details.

It is currently showing the web designer as the registrant / admin contact for the domain, which means that you have no way to update or move the domain or anything else without his permission / help

The domain expires the second week of January, so you would want to get that all sorted out ASAP.

By the looks of it you do have a database, but i could be wrong.
The pages are based on query strings to show the right project or approach.

So you are looking to keep the design, but have more control over uploading images, add text description, and so on....

If you have a database then what you need is a back-end admin area.
Also the front-end requires some work to get your pages optimised for SE.
Do you have FTP access to your server?
Is the company that design it gone or they don't have time for you?
Where is it hosted? - Actually just found it - H365

OK Guys, you're spotting all the weak points and yes #1 Priority is to gain admin control and organise hosting. P Gorry was original site designer and he did everything on tech side and sorted hosting etc. I run the co but supplied padraig images for updates etc. Wanted to expand scope but unfortunately Padraig has emigrated and I've a few weeks to regain control and hosting before expanding/revamping etc. Seems to me I need (a) sort hosting and (b) both a creative to design new 'look' and a 'tech savvy' to ensure SEO etc is 100%. Am I correct or is there a double edge expert out there?
