I don't have a notion if it's value for money or even if it's good technology or dated.

I never really found a way to find out if a camcorder was good or not, because there doesn't seem to be a single quantifiable number you can compare such as MP for still cameras.
For the money it looks pretty good, but I'm no expert.

it looks like a good product and is Sony as well. never liked camcorders tho.

I debated for quite a while between camcorder/camera and in the end went for a Canon EOS 350D 8MP because you know what you're getting and in the end i can use it for web designs more than I ever would a camcorder.

that sounds like what I would do myself.
I spent 400 £ on a camera when they first came to Ireland. My girlfriend still hates it cause they are not on paper, lol

I find there's a big problem with this in the digital generation - soon gone the days will be when you could take out a pack of pictures and flick through 30 of them. The cost of printing digital is still too prohibitive to send off anything over a few selected pictures.
When we get to the stage that you could send off 40 pictures for the same as a reel then that will be great.
