 Directory Listings Hi, I'm new to all this and am thinking about setting up a business listings site for the local area. I'm just wondering if I get a list of business names do I have to ok it with them before I add the names or could I add the names and let them know that their name has been added? Obviously I'd want to let a business know that their name is on the site but I'm afraid that if I contact them looking for permission to add them that they just won't bother to reply. If I contact them to say they are on the list and request that they contact me to be removed is that ok? Thanks Webtemp         |

| Why don't you pick up the phone and ask then do they want free advertising, cant see many saying no to that?

| It's an awkward one. Most people running businesses don't like taking phone calls from sales people - they get a LOT of them. Maybe you could try tackling it from a slightly different angle, such as the local chamber or similar

| Blacknight, I agree about getting calls from sales reps, particularly the ones trying to sell me shares, even got a guy trying to guarantee me number 1 position in google!  However, the OP isnt selling anything (yet) so if someone rang me up offering to add me for free to their directory, I would probably say yes. |
