Default Advertising on my site

Hey

I started up a small website about 3 weeks ago and one of the pages on the website has had 1.5 million page views already.
I am planning to place banner ads on the page but I was not sure how much you would charge. Does any one know?

And also where you would sell your advertising space.

Thanks

There are already a few posts on that here. It completely depends on the market/topic of your site.

An example I like to use is as follows:

If you have 1.5 million pageviews on a mortgage/financial services type site you can command a premium.

If you have a site about celebrity gossip or myspace, you are not going to get much.

CPM advertising is not a great way to monetize a site generally. I would also hold off ads on a 3 week old site until you have enough steady traffic.

What is the site BTW?

1.5 million page views? that is a hell of a lot of traffic in 3 weeks.... well done!

Why don't you start with google adsense and take it from there?

The site is pretty much just a community for bebo users. I was browsing google and noticed that no one had set up a bebo community and forum so I decided to do it myself, the site got very popular very quickly and advertising is free because you can publicize the site on bebo.
Then I started a Bebo proxy and that became very very popular.

I placed adsence on the site and in the past 5 days I have made $2XX.XX

The site is Bebo101 - Unlock Bebo, Bebo forums, Blogs, graphics, Bebo skins - Home

david4ie,

How's the site going now?
Do you find that your adsense earnings have dipped at all after the initial burst?

I would put up a CPM first then install a stats application for a few hours to see where it is all coming from - the geographic location and the referring sites , then decidehow to proceed with monetisation (i would leave the stats app in place too long incase it effects the SEO - assuming you get it from the search engine listings)

If it is a BOT on the over hand you may want to prevent it appearing at your site as it is doing nothing more than gobbling up your bandwidth (you can pevent individual bots using ROBOTS.txt file)

If that level of traffic is real people you could be on to something pretty big!
