| Hi Folks, New to this whole website thing ( hence the name ) so i'm just looking for a bit if friendly advice. Can somebody please explain this blogging thing to me? For example is it just another thread or forum discussion that is posted on the web advertising your website? If so how is one created and where & how would i post it? I am specifically looking to target traffic within Irl & GB. From browsing the web i have come across various seo software that claim to increase your traffic by as much as 600%, are these just as i think a waste of money or do they work? Please post relevant links for items you feel do work. I would appreciate if anybody coudl help me, as i am just lauching a fledgling website and have an extremely low budget for markting. Any tips or comments much appreciated. Thanks. Last edited by Website Virgin; 26-03-2008 at 03:32 PM. |

1. Has anyone heard of these commission based advertising companies like traffic wave & monster traffic etc? They claim to draw excessive traffic to your sites whilst paying you a commission for new leads reffered tothem by you... sounds a bit too god to be true!! 2. Has anyone used the programme trafficseeker 8.0? Software claiming to add you higher on the most frequented search engines yahoo, Google etc. I am quite sceptical about all these issues with me being new to this internet marketing. Any comments appreciated. |

| Forget about buying traffic from these sources, if you want to get real visitors go with AdWords or something similar. But before you do that, make a good website. If it's any good it will get more popular by word of mouth. Don't get too bogged down in SEO, as it still needs to be user friendly. A blog, is like an online diary, a regularly updated page about some topic or other. See wordpress.com for some examples.

| Most of the SEO software is a scam to be honest. If you want to learn about SEO and online marketing etc., I'd recommend you have a read over some of the threads on here and take a look at some of the members' blogs (linked from the footer of all pages) There is no simple way to drive huge amounts of traffic to a site without suffering the downside. What exactly are you trying to sell / promote?

| Are adwords the same as PPC? I have invested in a good quality website which is user friendly. I am now just hopeing to target my audience within the ROI & GB. I am ideally looking for the quickist way to get natural listings for all my products ( over 290 ). They are consumer goods for the home & Garden.... |

| PPC = pay per click Adwords is just one of the PPC solutions, but probably one of the more popular and better known ones

| The best thing you can do is measure your results. Google Analytics is your best friend. Install it on all pages of your site you wish to measure. See where your traffic is coming from and focus on building using the data in there. For example if you have a home and garden site. Participate on forums that deal with home and garden tips. Spend time on these forums giving advice and helping people. This can be a good referral source. You may find you get alot of traffic from a site that has linked to a post or a product on your site. Upon further investigation you find that the link on their site is buried several pages in, but provides good traffic. If that site runs Google Adsense or similar you may decide to buy "site wide" advertising. Measuring ROI is all about how much your visitors cost vs how much money you made. Google Analytics integrates with Adwords to help you measure this. Search Engine Optimisation will cost you in terms of time and money, its not FREE despite the FREE traffic. Yes in the long run it helps but considering you can appear on the first page of Google (in Ireland) for as little as 0.01 cent - 0.05 cent I think it represents excellent value for money. Not to mention that you get listed instantly. You can also use the information gathered from your Pay Per Click (Adwords) to decide what is the best terms to target for your search engine optimisation campaign. bottom line is measure your results from day 1. |

As Blackknight already said avoid them. |

| One thing you need to try and do is create deep links within the blogs themselves. Create a mesh of links between blogs and do not be afraid to link to other people's sites especially if high PR so that you can imncrease your hub score. |
