It's an interesting idea (Feedburner Network).

What network did you try and join?

I wonder also will coordinators remain impartial - a bit of space for corruption along the DMOZ lines perhaps.

Aren't there multiple networks though for different niches? Am I picking this up wrong?

After you posted I found one Feedburner network focused on venture capitalists and it got me thinking that the coordinator of each network probably will have quite a bit of power if these networks take off.

Maybe I'm thinking of something else

Now I'm confused

I'm talking about http://www.feedburner.com which has recently launched its own ad network for bloggers

Though when I look at the ad network page for advertisers I can see what you mean :
https://www.feedburner.com/ads/add-campaign.do

They seem to have split it up into channels and networks presumably based on the type of content...
