Are javascript/dhtml menu's search engine friendly? If not all, which ones can be fully indexed by the search engines?

No. Most search engine spiders ignore Javascript and anything with script tags. I'm not sure about dhtml though.

you use standard ul / li tags to define the navigation and the js styles it into a nice dhtml menu. Fully accessible and search engine friendly afaik.

if you create the menu based on html tags and use javascript/dhtml to hide/show then it should be fine regarding search engines.

To check if a menu is SE friendly see if the links show up as links in the text-only version of the Google cache, if they do they are...

UDM is a good solution. If you're just looking for a simple dropdown though, Son of Suckerfish is a great solution. Not only is it accessible and search engine-friendly, it also works on most browsers with JavaScript turned off.

Thanks folks. I used the ul & li tags as suggested - works fine, and provides a workaround for javascript disabled browsers.
