Default Online Search Marketing Jobs?

Hi Guys, The Irish Independent are looking to fill two Search Marketing roles. This is direct with the Indo, no agencies.

The first is for an Online Search Manager (SEO/PPC) - Senior Role.

The second is for an Online Search Marketing Coordinator - Junior Role.

The roles would be great for anyone who is looking to work with a large, well established, Irish brand.

PS: Make sure to pass the message on to anyone who might be interested.

Degree (preferably in marketing or business).
Per usual these days requires a Uni education to get onto the top pages of the serps and manage a PPC campaign.

How many SEOs have degrees in Marketing or in Business? From what I can see they're from IT/Development backgrounds.

The recruiters are getting it well wrong.

I beg to disagree. I'd take someone with a marketing/business background for this role a long time before I'd take an IT person. SEO is fast changing into a discipline where business acumen and marketing savvy are far more important than technical know-how. The technical stiff matters, but understanding people is far more relevant IMHO.

I'd have to agree with Richard on this one. Knowledge of what needs to be implemented on the technical side is important but the actual implementation can be done by techies. Online marketing savvy, analytics and a strong knowledge of search, PPC, etc. is much more important.

I think Cormac means that recruiters are asking for a Degree when in reality something like this requires more experience than anything. A nice Uni cert is good but when it comes to the crunch it doesn't do much out on the field, especially in SEO.

Correction. How many SEO people are actually in Ireland?

Good to see more SEO jobs available though. Any members applying?

Not a whole lot. Plenty of people with PPC experience I reckon (working for the numerous 'SEO' agencies here, but few big organic guys I think.
