Default Query re Meta keywords & data

Hi there,

I have access to an admin section for my website.

For the Homepage I can enter in Meta Keywords and a Meta Description. Am I limited with the keywords, I've just read an article and it said use 2 keyword phrases and use 3 -4 words per phrase. At the moment I have a lot of keywords listed of 2 words.

I can also add the meta description, should this describe the homepage only or the full website content.

Then I have a page for each product type and I have a section where I can enter Keywords, should I use as many keywords as possible or is it better to only use 3-4 2 word phrases.

My site is working its way up google but yahoo is appearing to be a problem.

I would be grateful of any information that can help.

Thank you in advance

Description is the more important one, make it page specific; with KWs I only use something that actually appears on the page, but I tend to be overly cautious...

HI Glengara,

Thanks for reply, the products change on my homepage every 10 days or so, so am I right to change the description to reflect these new products.

Thanks

Presumably your site sells the same type of products all the time, so I'd stick to a general description of the product ranges you offer

Thanks Blacknight,

Yes my products are the same throughout the website, I just change the homepage products about every 10 days. The site is coming up the organic listings on google Ireland bit by bit, some pages made it to the first page, but my main issue is with google.com and other countries.

I have 3 addresses submitted to google webmaster - .ie / .co.uk / .com. They are all linked to the one website. I'm not certain if it just takes time or if things will improve. I submitted 5 weeks ago.

Thanks
Lorry

So all three domains point to the one site?

IMO your home page needs more "static" content, I'd consider adding some extra text and perhaps cutting the featured products down to say six.

As it is it's mostly links and if they constantly change.....

It sounds like you're treating them as two different websites with Google, which is probably not going to work too well for you

HI Blacknight

Thanks again for your reply. In google webmaster I have submitted .ie/co.uk and .com and submitted sitemaps for each. Google webmaster appears to be treating .ie website at the main site, it has a list of all the incoming links for .ie website listed but this is not listed for .co.uk and .com.

Am I better off to remove .co.uk and if so, is there an easy way to do this, or am I just better off to leave it there.

Thanks again
Lorry
