| Wow if I didn't know better I'd think I'm getting bullied by a load of SEO geeks! Very surprised by the poisonous and cynical "welcome" to your forum. A few facts that I feel I need to outline: I've worked with internet technologies since 1995 - worked with Digital, Compaq, IBM, and Google. Actually worked with one of Ireland's first web design companies in 1995. I'm very friendly with the Google engineers in Ieland, Uk and across the pond and also know a number of industry experts over here. I also consulted for a number of years with Inktomi in London - how many of you remember them?? I run this business with my GF (admin) and 3 seo/sem/ppc experts. They are regular contributors to SEW and have spoke on numerous occasions at SES conferences. Yes our site is ****e - yes we have in excess of 50 clients - we have never worked on the site. All business is referred through word of mouth and our customers are very very happy with us. No one on here knows "ten times" more about SEO then we do. This isn't meant to make a fortune - we're servicing clients we know and not actively looking for outside business. All 4 of us worked in the north american gaming market during the height of its growth - pre the legislation change. I can remember when the PPC rate for "free bets" was €50 - design a strategy around that if you may! I was shocked by the tone of the comments from business CEO's such as Richard etc...no idea why you are being so rude. As for the guy calling us "sh****" I just don't get that. I would never act like that in business. Totally uncalled for. As for the guy slagging us off who is trying to run a poker/gaming site and make a few quid via affiliate deals.......I managed a campaign with one of north americas biggest online sportsbooks which was getting 450 newbies a week - how many have you signed up for your affiliates? 20? I have huge respect for the Irish It industry and the people in it - I was shocked by the welcome we got here - I can genuinely say I just wanted to read other irish ppls views of the search world. Anyway I'm sure ye don't give a monkeys but I felt a response was merited - I would gladly meet anyone from this forum and discuss any element of online marketing and then we'll see who the "s*******r" is. Thanks for the nice welcome and to the one guy who defended us - cheers |

| good on you - sounds like you are doing well. You will have to forgive me for being so cynical - as someone pointed out, there are so many people who come on forums, make great claims, but at first glance the claims are hard to believe... The fact that you were not "on the map" (page 1 of google for some irish search marketing keyphrase) especially. Your dig at me: Quote:
oh and by the way - I am not "trying to run a poker/gaming site" I am doing it baby.... And regarding your snide "few quid" comment, not that it is any of your business - I make >5k a month from affiliate stuff and another 5k from advertising... Sterling baby.. for my SELF. Oh yes. I am also such a SEO noob that I am page 1 out of 56,000,000 odd for the keyword "Gambling". yes you just owned yourself, and yes your site does suck. The guy who said "take it easy" guys was being nice - we weren't being horrid - we just wanted you to put your money where your mouth was (because let's face it - your "website" doesn't do the job)... you wouldn't believe the # of "Seo experts" we see coming in and out of here who have no clue. Anyway make love not war is all i can say - welcome to the forums, good luck with your venture, and maybe you can all teach us a trick or two... time will tell.

If you are so involved you'll know just like many of us that there are more dodgy characters in SEO than probably any other Internet service area.

If you were referring to me, I was neither defending or offending you. My concern was your use of the AdWords Qualified Company logo on your site unlinked. Why not link it? I asked our Google rep to check your status, she is passing the request on to professionals support. I also logged a request here: https://adwords.google.com/support/s...7224&topic=185 I hope you don't mind. Just wanted to get on your side. I'd well believe you are a qualified individual because a qualified company needs two qualified individuals. This is not an interrogation, I guess it's just your hazing. |

| "I'd well believe you are a qualified individual because a qualified company needs two qualified individuals. I didn't actually realise this - I'm going to take the logo off and send a mail to Google Ireland to get clarification on the issue. I empathise with the "cowboys" comments - strangely the vast majority of work we do is picking up the pieces from cowboy seo merchants - "guaranteeing" companies the sun, moon and stars. |
